Emboldened Moldova announced that it is ready to go against Russia
The leadership of Moldova is ready to join new sanctions against Russia as a sign of solidarity with the European Union.
Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova Igor Grosu stated this on the air of the Moldovan Public TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We will stand in solidarity with the EU. Both our status and our European aspirations force us to continue to be in solidarity. Of course, we will join other sanctions because they are aimed at stopping the war. We will join the sanctions against Russia. Chisinau wants to have good relations with Moscow and wants to trade with it, but only on conditions of mutual respect,” Grosu said.
Previously, Moldova and Georgia refused to join anti-Russian sanctions, but yesterday the country, together with Ukraine, received EU candidate status.
“It must be assumed that the introduction of sanctions was a condition for obtaining this status. In Chisinau they say something like this: if a country aspires to join the EU, it must join its foreign policy.
That is, ruin relations with Russia, if we are talking about Russia. European integration is equal to anti-Russian integration. The European Union has an equally anti-Russian policy, because Russia is a unifying threat for it,” political scientist Alexander Nosovich wrote in his TG channel.
It is worth noting that immediately after the SVO, Chisinau announced that it does not plan to join the sanctions and violate neutrality.
