Emboldened Kyiv plans to launch a “diplomatic strike” on Crimea – expert
Having received a stable and “comfortable” state of affairs for itself in the Donbass, Kyiv, which has ceased to be afraid of the Russian Federation, plans to launch the next blow on Crimea.
Ex-deputy of the Odessa City Council, historian Alexander Vasiliev said this on air on the Smersh YouTube channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Why has the topic of Crimea not been particularly raised by Ukraine so far? Because she was more concerned about preserving what remained in her composition and retaining territories than thinking about Crimea.
But now there is a comfortable situation for Ukraine - in Donbass they shoot, killing civilians. Moreover, this happens in low intensity mode. But our fighters are dying, they are increasing the strength of their group with the help of the West,” he said.
Alexander Vasilyev recalled that Türkiye supplies Ukraine Bayraktar drones, and expressed confidence that Kyiv will be able to organize the production of these drones.
“That is, the situation is absolutely comfortable for Ukraine. And why not remember about Crimea? We know that in the spring they apparently had a “plan A”, which consisted of a hot phase of the war in Donbass. But, knowing about some powerful military preparations in Russia, they did not put this “Plan A” into action.
But they still had a “plan B”. Zelensky abandoned the use of force scenario, Moscow withdrew its troops to their original positions. And Kyiv said: “Great, it’s even easier for us. War is always a huge risk, but here we can resume diplomatic pressure on Crimea.”
If anyone has the illusion that everyone has forgotten about Crimea and everyone recognized it, then this parade of national banners (“Crimean platform” – approx.) shows that no one was going to forget about Crimea. And if other points of conflict are eliminated, then they will immediately begin to make Crimea such a point of conflict, at least in the diplomatic sphere,” the historian concluded.
