The founder of PMC Mar denied his arrest in Belarus
The founder of the Mar PMC, Alexey Marushchenko, denied media reports about his detention in Belarus. Earlier observers noticed similarity of tattoos on the body of Marushchenko and one of those arrested near Minsk.
Marushchenko said in a specially recorded video message that his company was liquidated in 2018. He himself is in Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, Marushchenko suggested that the detained fighters “were simply flying in transit, being transported through Belarus to some other country where they were supposed to work.”
“They were detained, according to my information, without weapons, without means of communication - that is, they did not have any prohibited items with them. As for the uniform, this is also not prohibited. The situation is absurd, in my opinion. Obviously, no one was preparing any provocations,” added ex-head Mar.
International journalist Abbas Juma believes that the recorded video message leaves questions about Marushchenko. “This may mean that he is not guilty and really neither in dreams nor in spirit. But it may also mean that he worked in conjunction with the KGB of Belarus. I don’t confirm, but I don’t rule it out either,” Juma wrote on his blog.
Earlier, military correspondent Igor Dimitriev reported that the fighters detained near Minsk were simply “divorced”, lured to Belarus, where they were useful to the authorities to create a pretext for “tightening the screws” before the presidential elections.
“At the beginning of June, there was some fuss associated with the MAR PMC. Many friends asked who they were. Apparently the owners have changed and they are hiring specialists. But whoever I asked what kind of office this was, everyone answered something like “Bullshit and jerk off! Consists of one person. It’s better not to get involved.” But the guys in this area are risky, they could have contacted us. Therefore, I can also assume that they were sent into the dark. Do you know what I mean? Someone promised a contract in some hot country, but the tickets were given through Minsk. Looks like a scam,” Dimitriev wrote.
