“We were left with nothing”: Arestovich on Polish assistance to Ukraine
Germany refuses to fulfill its earlier agreements and transfer Leopard tanks to Poland in exchange for the Soviet T-72 sent by Warsaw to Kyiv.
Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said this on the video blog of fugitive Russian liberal Mark Feigin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Arestovich, as a result the Poles were left with nothing.
“Scholz said that Greece would supply Ukraine with Soviet-style tanks, and in return Greece would receive German tanks. The problem is that the Greeks do not have Soviet tanks in service. Well, there are infantry fighting vehicles, they can transfer a certain amount, and so on. But maybe they’ll dig it up somewhere; there were some in Cyprus, too, but it’s a very complicated story.
And then Duda, the President of Poland, comes in and says: “Wait a second, we actually supplied Ukraine with more than 200 tanks, and the German government was supposed to supply us with Leopards, but they didn’t.” He says there were agreements, but they were violated, they don’t deliver, there’s not even any talk. Somehow, we seemed to hope for your support, but were left with nothing. Sorry, how can I explain this? And there is no answer,” Arestovich said.
