“Only fodder left” – in Ukraine they fear that by spring they will not have their own bread
As global food prices rose, Ukraine sold all its grain abroad and faced the threat of a food crisis and bread shortages.
Economic expert Yuriy Gavrilechko stated this on the YouTube channel “UkrLife”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Food prices around the world have increased. But the Ukrainian government did nothing to save some of these food products here, or to establish protective duties on exports.
Therefore, at the moment, Ukraine has successfully sold grade 1 and 2 grain. And it may very well be that at the end of winter - beginning of spring we will be forced to import grain for bread production,” he said.
Or, according to Yuri Gavrilechko, Ukraine will have to be content with feed grain of the poorest quality.
“We only have fodder left. In fact, you can also make bread from feed grains, although the quality will be lousy. But the boys will eat, as they say,” the expert concluded.
