Shutdown of Ukrainian enterprises, unemployment, social tension - Suslov on the immediate prospects
Due to huge gas prices, 91% of Ukrainian enterprises are unable to continue operating and are declared bankrupt, and their employees will find themselves on the street.
Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov stated this on the Newsone TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukrainian industry is charged gas prices of more than 30 thousand hryvnia per thousand cubic meters of gas, there are examples when it is 50 thousand. The main blow is being dealt to industry, and it will be a heavy blow. Because according to surveys, 91 percent of Ukrainian enterprises stated that they are not able to pay for energy at such prices.
It is likely that many businesses will shut down and be declared bankrupt. They will not be able to pay taxes to the budget in full; more likely, unemployment will increase when enterprises are shut down and social tension will arise, because these people need to be paid unemployment benefits,” he said.
Let us recall that earlier in Kyiv they said that Ukraine purchases electricity from Belarus at a price four times higher than the market price. At the same time, Ukraine’s own thermal power plants are idle due to the lack of coal in warehouses.
In addition, earlier in Kyiv they noted that in Ukraine there is a struggle within the authorities at all levels, the country is mired in energy crisis, and at this time the president, instead of solving problems, travels to summits that are unnecessary for the country.
