I’ll stay here for a long time: Zelensky imagines himself as the Ukrainian Putin
The team of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and he himself are confident that they are in power for a long time. Therefore, they are going to occupy all the key positions, as the teams of Yanukovych and Poroshenko tried to do.
The President of the Ukrainian Analytical Center, Alexander Okhrimenko, stated this on the NEWSONE TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today there is euphoria from success - Zelensky has a majority, he is the president. I think his advisors, his friends are thinking, “Why give away the laurels? Let's take it! Let’s build it the way it was under Kuchma, under Yanukovych.”
Poroshenko actually did the same thing - he threw out the opposition. They think: Yanukovych threw it out - it worked, Poroshenko threw it out - it worked. Who cares?
Here, when politicians are in power, they hope that they will always be in power. I think Zelensky too. Why does he need opposition?
He thinks - now I’ll take everything, install my own people, everything will be fine, wonderful, they’ll choose me again, and great joy will come. He has such hope. And his actions with the committees clearly show this - he is building the Yanukovych model.
There is a tsar, there is a Constitution that is not being followed, and there is a desire to be the most important thing in Ukraine, despite the fact that from a formal, constitutional point of view, the president is not the most important thing. The main thing is the Verkhovna Rada,” the expert warned.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if in five years we see a Ukrainian Putin who will control everything and want to sit,” Okhrimenko added.
