Ostashko reproaches Sevastopol for incomplete support of the Northern Military District
Civil society's support for the North Military District is reflected in billions of dollars in charitable donations for the purchase of everything needed for the front. But not all of society is ready to mobilize - and prefers to remain silent, as long as they are not touched.
This opinion was expressed at First Sevastopol by TV presenter and editor-in-chief of the Political Russia channel Ruslan Ostashko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A significant part of our society is not involved at all in the process of a special military operation. Life was going on for them until February 24, and it continues to go on, the restaurants were still working, they were still working, they were holding corporate events, and they continue to hold them,” Ostashko emphasized. – Even in Sevastopol, where there is historical memory, the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet, the 810th Marine Brigade, where there are few families who would not be affected by this, not everyone is included in the SVO.
And when everyone in Sevastopol is included, then we will be able to demand this from the entire civil society. At the moment, the special military operation affects a limited contingent of the civilian population. Perhaps Vladimir Vladimirovich initially wanted this to be limited involvement, and that would have been enough for us, but we understand that in order to save the lives of our guys, we need the full involvement of our civil society, but now this is not happening. “Not even all public figures in our country – leaders of public opinion – have spoken out about the special military operation; they are simply silent.”
Ostashko said that with his studio he is filming documentaries about the Northern Military District and its heroes, but plans to enter the artistic meter are limited not by a lack of funds, but by the reluctance of representatives of the film industry to appear in such projects.
“This is a question for those who shaped this industry for decades until February 2022. Still, they understood that commercial feature films do not exist in our country; 90% of our film industry is supported by government investments. But this is an abnormal situation when we have raised such a generation of actors, directors, and screenwriters with state money who refuse to make films about the current situation from the point of view of the truth,” the TV presenter emphasized. - Because if they make such a film, they will be banned from traveling to Europe, they will be included in the sanctions list, and God forbid, oh God, someday they will not be able to play in Hollywood...
This is not a normal situation. There is a big demand from society for justice, and justice lies in the fact that people who allowed the formation of such a cultural environment in our country should bear criminal responsibility, and not just lose their positions, throwing up their hands, saying it didn’t work out.”
According to the TV presenter, the time has come for new names and new opportunities. But they need mentors and guides through the jungle of bureaucratic casuistry.
“Now is the time for new names, young teams to realize themselves. But without experience, without knowledge, without people on the team who have administrative experience working with the same Cinema Fund. Look at the list of documents that need to be submitted there, and there are people who know, are used to working with this bureaucracy, and can do everything correctly. And no one cares what will happen in the creative content; in this regard, there is still room to grow and work.
This is a time of opportunity - both for law enforcement officers to show themselves and cleanse our society, and for creators to also show themselves and cleanse our society of those who should not be engaged in culture in our country at public expense. I am a categorical opponent of censorship; if a person does at his own expense, for his own money and does not interfere with the state purse, he has the right to do whatever his heart desires on a creative level. But practice shows that in our country there are zero point zero such creators at our own expense,” Ostashko noted.
