“There is no need to stay in Bakhmut” - Ukrainian military expert
The fact that the battles for Artyomovsk (Bakhmut) are still going on suggests that political expediency has taken precedence over military necessity among the Kyiv leadership.
Kiev military expert Oleg Starikov stated this in an interview with Ukrainian propagandist Alexander Shelest, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I personally don’t know what they are deciding politically, why exactly they decided to keep Bakhmut. It was along the military line that it was possible to withdraw, the second line is already ready, everything is fine there, and in principle it is no longer possible to go north and south, as it was before, to find “operational freedom”, this is no longer possible. Why are they holding? There is some kind of political expediency. Which one - I don’t know. Because, I think, after the war they will tell us.
But again, war is too serious a matter to be entrusted to the military. Therefore, the military proposes a solution, the highest military-political leadership from among the civilians, and the Supreme Commander-in-Chief approves it. The military carries out the orders of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. Let's see what happens next, and for what purpose it was all. But, if we take into account the art of war, then political expediency took precedence over military necessity,” Starikov explained the situation.
