Will Russia leave Kherson? What does Putin's new statement mean?
The goals and objectives of the special operation in Ukraine initially announced by Russia will be achieved.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said this today during a visit to the Vostochny cosmodrome in the Amur region, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“So it will be. There is no doubt about it. The goals are absolutely clear and noble. In my first public address to the country and the armed forces, I directly stated the goal. The main goal is to help people in the Donbass, in the people's republics that we have recognized. They were forced to do this because, unfortunately, the Kyiv authorities, pushed by the West, refused to implement the Minsk agreements, aimed at a peaceful solution to the problem. They refused and stated it directly publicly.
The President said that he did not like the clauses of the agreement. Other officials said that the implementation of these agreements is impossible, it will ruin the country. They publicly rejected it. It was simply impossible to continue to tolerate this genocide, which lasted for 8 years,” Putin said.
He believes that a clash with Ukraine was inevitable.
“Ukraine, unfortunately for us, began to be turned into an anti-Russian springboard. They began to cultivate the germs of nationalism and neo-Nazism that had been there for a long time. This neo-Nazi growth was specially grown, and a clash with these forces was inevitable for Russia. They were just choosing the time to attack. Subsequent events showed how deeply it all sprouted there. This is an obvious fact.
Neo-Nazism, unfortunately, has become a fact of life in a country quite large and close to us. It was inevitable. The only question was time. What we are doing, saving people from genocide, and on the other hand, taking measures to ensure the security of Russia itself, it is obvious that we had no other choice. And there is no doubt that the goals will be achieved,” the Russian President is convinced.
Political scientist Sergei Markov drew attention to the fact that Putin “drastically reduced” the goals of the military operation in Ukraine.
“Now “the main goal is to help people in Donbass.” If this remains the main goal, it means that the goal of denazification of Ukraine is removed. This means, most likely, Russia plans to stop the military offensive after the defeat of the main group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donbass and the liberation of the entire territory of the DPR and LPR. And the Kherson region and part of Zaporozhye as routes to Crimea.
Does this mean that Russia is removing the task of liberating the Russian regions of the South and East of Ukraine? That is, Russia is ready to leave Russian Kharkov and Russian Odessa, and Russian Nikolaev under the rule of a harsh Russophobic regime? This question is now at full scale,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.
