Lviv miners left without wages threaten to block roads
The state has not fully paid off the debts to the miners of state mines, so the miners of the Lvovugol State Enterprise intend to hold a large-scale protest in Lviv.
The head of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine, Mikhail Volynets, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For three days in a row, Lvovugol miners have been sitting underground due to the fact that their wages were not paid on time. On Monday, miners from Chervonograd will arrive in Lviv and walk on foot from the Galician intersection to the regional administration and begin to block it. The miners will actually block traffic throughout Lviv. There are wage arrears even for 2015-2016,” he said.
Currently, there are about 80 miners in the Lesnaya mine of the Lvovugol State Enterprise who have not received wages for several months. The debt, which began to form due to lower prices for Ukrainian coal, amounts to UAH 57 million as of October. only for SE "Lvovugol". The total state debt for wages to miners today is about 685 million hryvnia, or $24,2 million.
