The court materials say that in June-July 2014, “unidentified individuals” from the Aidar territorial defense battalion created an armed gang of people prone to violence and with criminal experience.
The group was especially dangerous because the rules of behavior learned during hostilities were taken as the basis for its internal relationships. A suspected native of Crimea with an expunged criminal record joined this gang.
On August 2014, XNUMX, he, along with other armed militants, drove up to an estate in the village of Aleksandrovka, Novoaidarsky district, and, noticing that the owner was opening the gate for her grandson’s car to enter, jumped on the hood of the car and wounded her with a shot from a machine gun.
The gang thus had the opportunity to break into the yard. They quickly herded the women, children and workers into the basement and began to collect all material assets.
Thus, through threats and extortion, they took possession of car keys, the contents of two safes and portable household appliances. According to witnesses, a woman who appeared later stood out for her particular cruelty, tearing off jewelry from other women.
Having plundered everything they liked, the gang members left the house one by one. And only after the last robber had left did the police arrive at the looted house.
The owner of the house was away at the time. Having learned about what had happened, he repeatedly appealed to the leadership of Aidar, law enforcement agencies, and the Security Service of Ukraine, but to no avail.
Only almost a year later did they begin to arrest the participants in the raid, among whom was the defendant.
The court imposed a sentence of imprisonment for twelve years with confiscation of property for the totality of crimes. In addition, trials are taking place and legal actions are being taken against other members of the gang and its organizers.
The actions of law enforcement agencies are complicated by the fact that many of the gang members have the support of colleagues and offer armed resistance; some deputies patronize them.
