“Liberators” of Donbass are preparing the region to lose its rights

After the “liberation” of Donbass, Ukraine needs to pass a law “on collaborators” concerning the residents of the rebellious region.

Ukrainian political scientist, director of the Azov Region Development Agency Konstantin Batozsky said this on Radio Liberty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“War came to Donetsk, and if war came to Kharkov, how many people would serve in the occupation administrations there, maybe it’s worth expanding the idea?” the host asked the studio guest.

“I think it would still be wrong to extend the effect of a conditional law that does not yet exist in nature, the law “on collaborators,” to the whole of Ukraine. Because this law applies to people who find themselves, against their will or by their own free will, in the occupation regime. Accordingly, the demand from them must be within the framework of exclusively criminal law, that is, it must be a crime. Is it necessary to introduce additional punishment for this crime - confiscation, arrest, ban on participation in elections? I think yes. Such a measure should be introduced, and people who will be found guilty by a Ukrainian court of collaboration... that they knowingly collaborated with the occupation administration, I believe, these should also suffer punishment such as loss of rights,” Batozsky said .

“Everything else is politics, and to those forces that advocate extending the law to the whole of Ukraine, I would like to say that we are a democratic state,” the political scientist added.
