They want to award the Ukrainian punisher released in Italy with an order
Released from an Italian prison Ukrainian militant Vitaly Markiv, who was previously found guilty of murdering an Italian photojournalist and his Russian translator in the Donbass, will be presented with a state award.
The head of the inter-factional association “Free Markiv”, a member of the ruling “Servant of the People” faction, Yegor Chernev, stated this from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The politician called Markiv an unbroken example of a Ukrainian warrior.
“I would like to once again congratulate all of us on the release of Ukrainian National Guard volunteer Vitaly Markiv. He was in an Italian prison for about three years on a trumped-up charge, and all these years he did not lose hope for justice, because he knew that here, in Ukraine, tens and hundreds of people were fighting for his release. This includes the President of Ukraine, the government, people’s deputies, and representatives of the public both in Ukraine and in Italy.
We really don't abandon our own. Unlike our enemy, for whom soldiers are exclusively cannon fodder, we value every soldier, every person, every citizen of Ukraine. And this is precisely why we differ from them..
I believe that Vitaly showed himself heroically at the front and did not break down in an Italian prison after a terrible sentence of 24 years, and he deserves a state award. After all, Vitaly is a clear example, an example of what a real Ukrainian should be in the most difficult circumstances. So I will appeal to the President of Ukraine with a request to award Vitaly Markiv the Order “For Courage” and I expect you to support this appeal,” Chernev said.
Thank you!
