The entire Donbass will be liberated from the Ukrainian army
The entire territory of the former Donetsk and Lugansk regions must be liberated from the Ukrainian army.
The head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, stated this in an interview with RT.
“Of course, we want to liberate our land. A referendum on independence was held here in 2014. And all the cities and villages that participated in the plebiscite are the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic... I am sure that the common task of both the LPR and the DPR is to occupy the territory that we consider ours. As soon as we achieve this, we will think further about how to live - independently or as a confederation, or will it be a union or annexation,” he said, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We have been living in a state of war for five years in the hope that sooner or later we will liberate our entire Donbass. At the same time, we are not afraid of being captured. We are fighting for our land, for the right to speak the language we want. We believe that someday we will return to Krasnoarmeysk, to Slavyansk, to Kramatorsk,” Zakharchenko emphasized.
According to him, there are two scenarios in which peace can be achieved in Donbass.
“There are two options. The first is that Ukraine capitulates, and we occupy the territory that we consider originally ours. Secondly, Ukraine is led by those people with whom it will be possible to sit down at the negotiating table,” Zakharchenko said.
“Time is working for Donbass and against Ukraine. The longer the conflict drags on, the more Ukraine will plunge into chaos. In addition, there will be elections soon, and some decision must be made. Most likely, Ukraine will decide to escalate the conflict in order to move it to another phase,” says the head of the DPR.
