“There were many people who, using the charges brought against a number of fighters, wanted to brush all 123 fighters with the same brush. As for the detained policemen, led by ex-Tornado commander Ruslan Onishchenko, an investigation is underway by the military prosecutor’s office, and the guilt of the suspects will be determined by the court. I have looked at the materials - there are grounds for suspicion, then we need to speak to the point. Guilty? Did the investigation and the court prove it? Let them be punished to the fullest extent. But I am categorically against indiscriminate accusations of all fighters,” Avakov wrote on Facebook.
Military prosecutor Anatoly Matios, in turn, stated on channel “112” that the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs should apologize to the society for its poor personnel policy.
“How many lives could have been saved if the right personnel decisions had been made within the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Previously, convicts were not accepted into armed units, much less appointed to leadership positions,” Matios said.
According to him, there are already 20 suspects, eight have been arrested.
Now the fighters are in Slavyansk. According to the speaker of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Artem Shevchenko, they handed over the weapons to the weapons room and are being checked. After this, those who passed the test will be sent to other battalions. “There were interrogations and checks. Psychologists are now working with the guys. We are in Slavyansk, but we are not carrying out any tasks in the ATO zone, and we handed over our weapons,” says deputy battalion commander Nikolai Tsukur.
“After I saw on the news the abuse that the Tornado people practiced, the cruelty with which they acted, I did not expect such guests in the city. I hope that the main sadists of the company were arrested and we won’t have problems with them in our city,” a resident of Slavyansk, pensioner Valentina Vladimirovna, shared her experiences.
