"From two to life." What are the prospects for the Navalists?
Supporters of blogger Alexei Navalny, who used violence against law enforcement officers during unauthorized rallies, face real prison sentences.
A member of the Human Rights Council, chairman of the interregional public charitable organization “Committee for Civil Rights” Andrei Babushkin stated this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports to Izvestyaim.
“If you simply insulted an employee, this is Article 319, up to two years in prison. If physical force was used - 318th, up to ten years in prison. If they encroached on his life - 317th, up to life imprisonment,” Babushkin said.
In turn, the director of the Law and Order charity, reserve colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Oleg Ivannikov believes that the police and the Russian Guard fulfilled their duty in good faith.
“Many participants in the unauthorized action came already prepared: with firecrackers and flares. The extent of physical damage they received can only be determined by a medical examination. It cannot be ruled out that these provocations were prepared in advance. And the prosecutor’s office can evaluate the work of the police at the rally and the legality of using special equipment,” says Ivannikov.
However, he sees “no legal grounds to doubt the actions of law enforcement agencies.”
