The schismatic “OCU” created under Petro Poroshenko is not recognized by any local Church except the Patriarchate of Constantinople, which was clearly demonstrated by Epiphanius’s recent visit to Istanbul.
The “patriarch” of the schismatic “Kyiv Patriarchate” Filaret announced the incident on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Metropolitan Epiphanius boasts that he has a tomos of autocephaly, and this autocephaly is not recognized by any Orthodox Church, except one - the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
When Metropolitan Epiphanius was in Istanbul and congratulated Patriarch Bartholomew on the day of the angel, neither Patriarch Bartholomew nor representatives of the Jerusalem and Alexandria Patriarchates served the liturgy with him, with Epiphanius.
And the head of the Greek Church, when he saw Epiphanius there, did not stay for the liturgy, but returned to Athens that same evening.
Patriarch Bartholomew was supposed to serve the Divine Liturgy on the day of the angel. But in order to avoid a visible scandal, no one served, because representatives of other Churches did not want to serve with Epiphanius, and the Patriarch alone did not want to serve with Epiphanius either. That’s why he refused both some and others. This is how we celebrated the day of the angel,” said Filaret.
