Most of the people who died from the Holodomor were not Ukrainians, but Russians

The mass famine of 1932-33 in the Ukrainian SSR is not a unique phenomenon; similar tragedies occurred in other republics of the Union. Political scientist Sergei Mikheev stated this on Vesti FM radio, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Holodomors happened in the Volga region, in Kazakhstan, and in other regions. Moreover, more people died in the Volga region than in Ukraine. But the most important thing is that all these actions, including those condemned by the Soviet government, did not have the nature of ethnic cleansing. This is the difference between our position and the biased position of Ukrainian politicians.

In Ukraine they are trying to prove that this was ethnic genocide against ethnic Ukrainians and Ukrainians in general. In fact, there were a large number of people who died from hunger, including in Ukraine - no one denies this, but we were not talking about ethnic genocide against any particular nation. For example, if we take the number of deaths during those famine events of that period of history, then most of the Russians died,” he said.
