More than a thousand Interior Ministry employees were injured by “peaceful” protesters during the Maidan
The actions of “peaceful” protesters on the Maidan towards employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were provocative in nature.
This was stated during the court hearing in the case of treason against Viktor Yanukovych by the former commander of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Stanislav Shulyak, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“During the events that occurred from November inclusive to the 20th of February 2014, “peaceful” protesters, “peaceful” I say in quotes, carried out provocative actions with elements of serious and especially serious crimes. On December 1 alone, 126 people were admitted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs hospital, 64 of them with serious injuries. During the entire period of the Maidan, more than a thousand wounded employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, of which 258 were seriously injured, of which 157 people received gunshot wounds,” said the ex-commander of the internal troops.
“This was the nature of the actions of the so-called “peaceful” protesters in relation to law enforcement agencies. By mid-February, protesters had firearms. On the morning of February 20, in the area of Zankovetskaya Street, weapons were heard from a Zhiguli car, presumably Kalashnikov assault rifles. Around 22 p.m., at the intersection of Bogatyrskaya Street, in the Piglet area, my observers identified a group of 2 thousand people armed with small arms. There was an operational report,” added Shulyak.
