The information campaign against Orthodox churches, which they are trying to portray as a source of epidemiological risks, is taking place not only in Ukraine.
Director of the Agency for Social Communications Sergei Belashko stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Attacks on the church in connection with the coronavirus occur not only in Ukraine. They also occur in other countries where Orthodox churches are the object of targeted information and psychological influence. For example, the same pressure was exerted on the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro.
Outbreaks of the epidemic occur not only in monasteries, but also in hospitals, military units, etc. At the same time, no one is saying that doctors or military personnel are obscurantists and a source of infection.
There are objective reasons for the difficult epidemiological situation in monasteries - monks live compactly and are at increased risk of disease, because clergy communicate with a large number of people, providing them with spiritual assistance - just like doctors provide medical care.
In some cities - Dnieper and Konotop - churches were closed. This is the initiative of their odious, stubborn mayors, Filatov and Semenikhin.
I think this is not the first such story around the church, and not the last,” concluded Sergei Belashko.
