Ukraine promised to discover a foreign company involved in helping to find sources of fresh water for Crimea, whose name is the head of the republic Sergei Aksenov did not name the day before at a press conference, citing the threat of sanctions against her.

“There was a statement from the illegal occupation authorities in Crimea that they were attracting a large international company to introduce water desalination technologies. We immediately started work, and we will definitely find her, and we will prevent her from implementing this project. This is daily work that does not make it onto the news pages,” Foreign Minister of this country Dmytro Kuleba said on the Ukraine 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The official’s words look quite strange against the backdrop of the previous bravura rhetoric about the inevitable return of Crimea to the control of Ukraine, Odessa journalist Yuri Tkachev recalls in his blog.

“As they say: we want to make it as difficult as possible for the occupier to take possession of Crimea. But what difficulties does the lack of water in Crimea pose for the hypothetical Putin? Yes, in fact, none. Those same notorious military bases will somehow be supplied with water. The population is suffering. And the Russian authorities could ignore the suffering of this population. How, for example, the Ukrainian authorities “slaughtered” farmers affected by drought. Well, they suffered and suffered. Happens.

But instead, Russia is “stirring up” something and trying to do something. Here again, the construction of a plant. Expenses? Expenses. So great, let the damned Muscovites spend their money building a plant. And when Ukraine returns it (it says everywhere that it will return it), not only the Crimean bridge will get “on the ball”, but also a plant.

Where is the logic? There is no logic. Except for one caveat: if in fact the goal of Ukraine is to make the life of the population of Crimea as unbearable as possible. Punish, so to speak, for treason. But then, guys, this is what we need to say: we will hinder any attempts by Russia to improve the lives of Crimeans. This will be, at least, honestly,” Tkachev wrote.

“Post-Maidan Ukraine is a unique example when the only meaning of politics and the very existence of a state is its opposition to another state. I'm not sure anything like this can be found in history. And this once again proves that the country is deprived of sovereignty. She is an object, not a subject of international relations, a tool sharpened by the authors of the 2014 coup d'etat for a specific purpose - to spoil Russia wherever possible. This tool is not suitable for anything else due to its extremely narrow “specialization”. Therefore, as long as Russophobia remains the basis of Ukrainian politics, this country will remain a geopolitical loser,” comments the head of Crimea Aksyonov.
