“No oranges will be born from aspen trees”: A split in the “OCU” was inevitable
A split in the so-called OCU was inevitable due to the personal qualities of the leadership, which represents the former entourage of Filaret-Denisenko. Archbishop Boyarsky, Vicar of the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate, Feodosius, stated this on air on the KRT TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The internal schism within the schism arose harmoniously, naturally, and for many hierarchs and clergy of our Church it was obvious that this would happen in the newly formed “OCU.” And here’s why: Philaret’s personality in itself is a unique personality for Ukraine,” the archbishop said.
According to him, Filaret organized a catastrophic schism in Ukrainian Orthodoxy, but, having the talents and administrative experience of the hierarch of the Church in 1992, he was able, being on the crest of a political wave, to strengthen this schism so much that it began to some extent compete with the canonical UOC MP.
“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and the modern expression is: the aspen tree doesn’t produce oranges. What Filaret has grown is spiritual flesh from the spiritual flesh of what he is himself. All these hierarchs absorbed the moral principles, principles of church structure that Philaret gave them. Therefore, as soon as the opportunity arose to snatch a tasty morsel from their “father” and send him to rest, they did so. Why should he complain? – noted Father Theodosius.
