Donbass, Minsk process

The discussion of the fate of Donbass by the leaders of Russia, Germany and France, which is to take place within the framework of the G20 summit without the participation of Ukraine, is evidence that Petro Poroshenko is rapidly losing support in the West.

Russian analyst and radio host Armen Gasparyan told PolitNavigator about this.

“This is the reaction of the leaders of the Normandy Four to what happened in Crimea and the harsh rhetoric of the Russian President. The leaders of the Normandy format, I mean France and Germany, have repeatedly said that they are tired of Poroshenko.

Every meeting in the “Normandy format” happens the same way - Ukraine is under pressure, it categorically does not want to take any steps. From the latter, we heard Poroshenko’s complaint that he is all in favor of the Minsk format, but due to the fact that he has a “wrong” Verkhovna Rada, which does not want to consider the bill on the special status of Donbass, nothing happens.

And the third point is that everything the Ukrainian government does is a parody of politics. For two years, Poroshenko has not been able to convince the world community and, above all, European politicians that he is a serious participant in the negotiation process, because everything that you agree on with him, in fact, is not implemented.

In addition, for a number of reasons, something is happening in Ukraine that stands out from the pan-European idea of a legal European state.

This is a very alarming signal for Poroshenko, because Obama is a lame duck, and Kiev has the only hope for Europe's role. As soon as Europe turns away from Poroshenko, he is left alone with internal troubles.

For Poroshenko, this message from the G20 could serve as the beginning of an internal political crisis, because it is clear that Yatsenyuk’s group will try to use it. He risks repeating the fate of Hetman Skoropadsky, from whom everyone turned their backs. Poroshenko is doing exactly the same thing,” Gasparyan said.
