About this Batenko wrote on his Facebook page.
“I declare my resignation from the parliamentary faction of the BPP as a sign of protest at the beginning of political repression in the country. I was brought up on the actions of a galaxy of sixties and dissidents, a generation that was always critical of the usurpation of power by anyone. Usurpation begins with disregard for public opinion and ends with the appearance of political prisoners. Today, the authorities have taken a decisive step towards the emergence of a new dictatorship,” the people’s deputy emphasized.
He noted that secret deals between the authorities and the “Opposition Bloc” could lead to the restoration of the old regime.
“We cannot allow this. I call on the democratic society of Ukraine and international organizations to take all possible constitutional steps to preserve the state and democracy,” Batenko emphasized.
