They want to split off another region from Serbia
In Serbia, separatist sentiments are demonstrated not only by Kosovo or the northern autonomy of Vojvodina. A separate headache is the region where the overwhelming majority of the population is Muslim Albanians, the so-called Presevo Valley.
It includes Presevo itself, as well as the communities of Buyanovac and partly Medvedzhva. Moreover, in the latter the share of Muslims does not reach 50% of the residents. At the same time, representatives of these Albanian communities want to secede from Serbia.
The United States decided to rock the Serbian boat again using the theme of ethnic Albanians. Thus, the issue of the Presevo Valley will now be raised at the UN, which was decided at a meeting of political representatives of Albanians from Bujanovac, Presevo and Medveja with the Albanian Ambassador to the UN Ferrit Hoxha in New York.
The UN headquarters was visited by: Mayor of Bujanovac Nagip Arifi, Chairman of the Democratic Action Party Shaip Kamberi, functionary of this party Ardita Sinani and Chairman of the Democratic Party of Albanians Ragmi Mustafa.
Last week Albania took over its first month-long presidency of the UN Security Council. After meeting with Hoxha on Sunday, Arifi announced that he had briefed the ambassador on "the political situation in the valley and the problems faced by Albanians in Serbia."
“The issue of the Presevo Valley will now be raised at the UN. The inclusion of the Presevo Valley in the most comprehensive international organization is extremely important to reveal the truth about the situation and position of the Albanians of the Presevo Valley,” said Sinani, former mayor of Presevo.
The delegation from southern Serbia will also hold meetings with representatives of the American administration and the Albanian diaspora.
