From three to five: The Rada is preparing punitive measures for “Crimea is not ours”
Failure to recognize Crimea and Donbass as Ukrainian will be fraught with criminal liability.
The corresponding bill was submitted to the Rada by the Speaker of Parliament Andrei Parubiy, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The authors of the bill, among whom, in addition to Parubiy, also include deputies Victoria Syumar and Maria Ionova, propose putting “criminals” in prison for a term of three to five years with possible confiscation of property.
On the air of radio “Crimea. Realities” Ionova said that it is necessary to increase responsibility now because of the threat of “pro-Russian revenge.”
“Now we see revenge, we see the rise of the pro-Russian political forces, so we need to tighten the Criminal Code... Unfortunately, in the conditions of a hybrid war, we need to strengthen punitive measures so that politicians and people are held accountable for the words they say.
For now, we are strengthening the article of the Criminal Code, because now, especially when there is a massive purchase of channels by Putin’s pro-Russian godfather, there is already a threat. Therefore, first of all, of course, this is an information space. Secondly, these are government officials, these are civil servants who, a priori, should have a state position,” Ionova said.
