Neighboring countries are beginning to isolate themselves from Ukraine due to the scale of the measles epidemic
Ukraine's neighboring countries are warning their citizens about the measles epidemic in Nezalezhnaya, and some, in particular Poland, are planning special preventive methods for Ukrainians, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by Polish Radio.
According to the publication, chief sanitary inspector Jaroslav Pinkas proposes “to require vaccinations from foreigners who have been in Poland for a long period.” “We have to ask: have you been vaccinated and should you get it,” he said. This official’s reaction appeared after an increase in measles was recorded in the country. Moreover, one of the patients turned out to be a citizen of Ukraine.
Recently, the Situation and Crisis Center of the Russian Foreign Ministry also announced the danger of the spread of measles in Ukraine.
"Ukraine. The number of measles patients is growing, 2018 thousand cases were registered in 35, the largest number of infections was recorded in Transcarpathian, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Ternopil, Chernivtsi and Volyn regions,” the department noted on Twitter.
As of September, since the beginning of the year, according to the body, 4000 cases of measles infection have been recorded in the country.
Since the beginning of this year, Russia has decided to strengthen sanitary and quarantine control at checkpoints across the state border due to an increase in the incidence of measles, in particular in Ukraine.
“According to the Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO Europe), the epidemiological situation regarding measles is worsening in the European Region. During the period January-October last year in European countries, the incidence rate was 3 times higher than in 2016,” the report says.
People in neighboring Belarus also write about the possibility of contracting measles from their Ukrainian neighbors. According to the local publication Sputnik, 2018 cases of measles have been registered in Belarus since February 230.
“In most cases, infection occurred after contact with sick people, or people brought the infection from abroad. In most cases, the disease was “imported” by citizens who visited Ukraine. There were also cases of illness in Ukrainians who arrived in Belarus. According to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, from January to September, more than 30 cases of measles were registered in the country,” the resource notes.
The reaction of Moldova was harsh, which began to take measures in the summer to prevent the spread of the disease to its territory. In particular, they introduced checks at border crossing points with Ukraine and Romania.
“If passengers with symptoms characteristic of measles are identified in any border unit, there is an order to organize an appropriate (isolated) room for interviewing the suspect or infected person, including carrying out medical consultation activities for the person,” the local publication ZDG quotes the police decree.
Medical workers at each border crossing point were supposed to appear in Moldova by the end of August.
In neighboring Romania, concerns about the increase in the number of measles cases in Ukraine and the need to vaccinate citizens, especially in those regions bordering Ukraine, were announced at the beginning of the year.
