The desire to join NATO could result in further loss of territory for Ukraine. Political scientist Pavel Rudyakov stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

According to him, even within its current borders, without Crimea and Donbass, Ukraine will not be able to become a member of the alliance, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The implementation of this strategy carries more risks and threats than chances and opportunities. The main risk is that on the one hand there is a context of American interests, on the other - Russian ones. Ukraine could become a member of NATO, but not within the boundaries in which it exists today. Without remembering Crimea, this risk is very high and it increases with the abandonment of non-alignment,” said Rudyakov.
