Old Russophobes will go from Ukraine to PACE
Ukraine has decided not to send an official delegation to the autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
Verkhovna Rada deputy, member of the previous Ukrainian delegation, Alexey Goncharenko, stated this on the ATR TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the parliamentarian, with this decision Ukraine expressed its protest against Russia’s recent return to PACE.
“It was decided by all parliamentary factions, except for the Opposition Platform – For Life, that is, Servant of the People, Batkivshchyna, Holos, European Solidarity, that we are not currently submitting a new composition of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, to demonstrate our attitude towards the return of the Russian delegation to PACE without sanctions, which took place at the summer session in June of this year,” Goncharenko said.
“At the same time, since PACE is a very important international platform and the failure to submit a new delegation means that the powers of the current delegation are retained, but those members of the delegation who were in the previous composition and are now in the current one can go to Strasbourg in order to so that the Ukrainian position is voiced, so that not only the Kremlin’s voice is heard,” the politician noted.
“Moreover, there will be very important issues, for example, local elections in Russia will be discussed, which, among other things, were held in Crimea, which is a gross violation of international law in the annexed territory. In particular, the equality committee will discuss human rights and the rights of the Crimean Tatars, which are violated in Crimea, the Minsk process and the situation in the Kerch Strait will be discussed. In general, there are a lot of important issues for Ukraine,” Goncharenko said.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, the Ukrainian delegation to PACE repeatedly noted by wild Russophobic antics.
