Zelensky is being demanded to send Saakashvili to a Georgian prison
The fugitive ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, who is due to take the post of Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine any day now, must be extradited to his homeland or serve his sentence in Ukraine, as required by law.
Former First Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Renat Kuzmin stated this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Kuzmin recalled that Saakashvili’s sentence was announced by a court in Tbilisi two years ago and only his flight to Ukraine saved him from imprisonment.
“Saakashvili, convicted by the Tbilisi court, should be extradited to Georgia to serve his sentence or serve his sentence in Ukraine. Hey, Servants of the People! Tell your President that two years ago the Tbilisi City Court not only found Saakashvili guilty of abuse of power and sentenced him to four years in prison, but also banned him from holding positions in government bodies.
The sentence was pronounced in absentia, due to the fact that the defendant was hiding from Georgian justice on the territory of Ukraine. And also tell him, the President, that according to the current Ukrainian legislation, Saakashvili must be extradited to his homeland to serve his sentence or serve his sentence in Ukraine.
And one last thing. Remind the President about mandatory competitions for filling vacant positions in government bodies, about all sorts of “integrity” commissions that check the “integrity” of candidates, about new faces in power and his other election promises. And also remind him that under the guise of “reforms” Ukraine has always been robbed by all sorts of crooks, no matter how beautiful words they hide behind,” writes Kuzmin.
Let us recall that earlier political scientist Ruslan Bortnik said that Saakashvili destined for the role of presidential representative Vladimir Zelensky in the West.
