Verkhovna Rada deputy, member of the Committee on Culture and Spirituality Nikolai Knyazhitsky said this on Channel 5, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If you come to a store and ask in Ukrainian, they should answer you in Ukrainian. If you speak in Russian, and someone answers you in Russian, this is possible, it is not a crime. But, if you ask in Ukrainian, then you should be answered in Ukrainian... There are professions where you can work without knowing the Ukrainian language. You can clean the streets, you can do some other unskilled work. If you work in the service sector, you must know the state language. You must know the Ukrainian language, not just know it, but also respond in it when you are addressed in Ukrainian,” Knyazhitsky said.
