A Radio Liberty journalist stated this during a live broadcast from the scene, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Initially, the former Georgian president, in a crowd of his supporters, moved freely along Kostelnaya Street in the direction of the Maidan.
All this was accompanied by shouts from his supporters “Kyiv, get up!”, “Impeachment” and “Get out the gang.”
“Here, where we are passing, at 10 o’clock there was a large line of law enforcement officers who did not allow anyone to pass. As soon as Saakashvili’s supporters pulled him out of the car, the security forces even disappeared from Kostelnaya Street,” the journalist said.
However, then the demonstrators’ plans changed and they headed to the Verkhovna Rada, where the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov is scheduled to speak at 16-00.
