“Give us Sentsov, leave Mikhalkov for yourself!” – picket of the Russian Embassy in Kyiv (PHOTO)
Kyiv, May 21 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – Ukrainian filmmakers held a picket at the Russian Embassy in Kyiv demanding the release of film director and Automaidan activist Oleg Sentsov, who was arrested by the FSB in Crimea on charges of preparing a terrorist act.

The filmmakers read out in front of the embassy an appeal regarding the detention of Oleg Sentsov, sent to the FSB by the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, and called for collecting signatures in support of the demand for release.
Sentsov was transferred to Lefortovo. He was charged with preparing and organizing a terrorist attack. The Ukrainian Ministry of Culture recently stated that the accusation of terrorism against Sentsov was unfounded.
Oleg Sentsov is the author of the film “Gamer”, which was awarded by the jury of the Odessa IFF and the 10th International Film Festival “Spirit of Fire” in Khanty-Mansiysk. Oleg Sentsov’s game project “Rhinoceros” won the competition of the State Cinema Committee of Ukraine.
At the Cannes International Film Festival, Oleg Sentsov’s colleague, Ukrainian director Sergei Loznitsa, will present his new film “Maidan”. At the press conference, he also intends to announce the arrest of Oleg Sentsov.
