The publication asked whether the decrease in Russian diasporas leads to the degradation of post-Soviet countries.

“Of course he does. Because Russians, for example, in Central Asia played an important role in the creation of industry and universities. Now this role is being distorted in the spirit of national mythology. And those who publicly challenge Russia and those who seem to be considered our allies are involved in the creation of myths,” Zatulin said.

He noted that in many Central Asian republics the official point of view is that they were the most affected by the Stalinist regime.

“On what basis? Why? Some of them even emerged as states within the USSR, under Stalin. They usually cite the fact that there were transit camps on their territory and this is proof that these people suffered the most. But people from all over the country were exiled there, often the best people from Moscow, Leningrad... It was they who later taught local children, created science and industry there. Who raised virgin soil in Kazakhstan during the time of Khrushchev? Or would Estonia, no matter how hard it strains itself, be able to build the Novotallinsk seaport?” the politician noted.

“Now some republics are even making claims that we occupied them, and therefore owe them money. And all this is not only in order to attribute our failures to the “imperial past”, but also so that we consider ourselves guilty, repent and apologize all the time. We did this ad infinitum in the 90s – well, that’s enough already!”, summed up Zatulin.
