“Refusal of Russian gas” is a screen for theft of Poroshenko’s entourage
Ukraine buys gas using the so-called “reverse scheme” not out of hatred for the “aggressor country,” but because this is how representatives of Petro Poroshenko’s regime manage to enrich themselves.
Former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych stated this today at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The prices in Ukraine today are a little more expensive than the gas that Russia could supply to Ukraine. But in this case, the corruption premium would be much smaller, or would not exist at all, given the relationship,” Yanukovych said.
According to him, of the 20 billion cubic meters of gas that Ukraine purchases through intermediaries, the majority is Russian gas.
“If you dig deeper, it’s clear that 90% of it is Russian gas. Maybe the Norwegian one will slip through, about five percent,” Yanukovych said.
He called Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s statements that the country does not buy Russian gas politicking.
“I call what is happening now pure politicking. This is a lie. Now there are numbers: more than 60 gas suppliers to Ukraine. Look at the accounts of those who are becoming richer in Ukraine. These are the ones who work with these intermediaries. This gas comes from Russia to Europe, and they resell it at a certain premium. This is money from the Ukrainian budget. In fact, they are robbing the Ukrainian people,” Yanukovych said.
