Roscosmos’ refusal of orders for Yuzhmash rockets means the loss of 50 thousand jobs in Ukraine, - ex-director
Kyiv, February 03 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Semenyuta) – Russia’s refusal to purchase Yuzhmash missiles will lead to the company losing 80% of its revenue and the loss of 50 jobs in Ukraine. The bleak prospects of the largest Dnepropetrovsk enterprise after the “demarche” of Roscosmos were outlined by the ex-director of Yuzhmash Viktor Shchegol in an interview "League".

“Rejection of this program means the loss of about 50 jobs in Ukraine (including related enterprises). This is a problem not only for the plant and Yuzhnoye Design Bureau. This is the problem of Ukraine. And it sounds like this: to be or not to be the rocket industry. Zenit is one of the main programs of Yuzhmash. In total, it accounted for up to 000% of production. Moreover, about 70-60% was produced in cooperation with Russia. Starting from metal and ending with the engine control system,” says the former head of the enterprise.
At the same time, repurposing the plant will not significantly change the situation. The equipment is specific, there is almost no universal equipment. But switching to any type of product will not solve the loading issue.
You shouldn’t hope for an international project with the American company Orbital. “Capacities were used in general up to 10%. In terms of volume, these projects accounted for up to 30% of revenue. But after the accident at Antares, serial operation was suspended, I think, for at least a year. The propulsion engine will be replaced, again, with a Russian one,” says the manager.
