The brakes have failed: the White House will discuss new sanctions against Russia
In the coming days, the US authorities will discuss new anti-Russian sanctions, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About it writes Russian Kommersant with reference to a source in the US State Department.
“Already this week, the White House will discuss new sanctions against Russia,” the source said.
He also added that new sanctions will be presented by US President Donald Trump's adviser John Bolton, who is known for his radical anti-Russian views.
Earlier, PolitNavigator reported that the United States included 24 Russian businessmen and officials, as well as 12 companies, on the sanctions list.
The list includes the head of Gazprom Alexey Miller, the owner of En+ Oleg Deripaska, the head of VTB Andrey Kostin and the owner of Renova Viktor Vekselberg, the heads of law enforcement agencies Vladimir Kolokoltsev and Nikolai Patrushev.
Subsequently, a senior US administration official said that new sanctions against Russian businessmen were explained by the fact that they “helped the Russian government.”
A person on the sanctions list, Oleg Deripaska's Rusal company, has already made a statement on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that it may declare a technical default on some of its loan obligations due to sanctions against the company by the United States. After this, Rusal shares on the Moscow Exchange fell by 46,9%.
