By abandoning Donbass, Russia will betray its civilization
Russia could not abandon Russians and Russian-speaking people in Donbass. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters about this today.

“Abandon Russians and Russian-speaking people in Ukraine after the organizers of the coup, supported from abroad, introduced discrimination against the Russian language as their first act? Then they announced that Russians in Crimea would never think in Ukrainian, and therefore Russians should be expelled from Crimea? Keep silent and say: a coup is just a coup? Would this correspond to the weight that we have in world politics? If we had not done this, we would have betrayed our civilization, which our ancestors spent centuries creating,” Lavrov said.
According to him, he often hears criticism of Russia for interfering in the conflicts in Donbass and Syria, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Here you need to take a comprehensive approach to what this or that nation is. If these are people who only want bread and circuses, and they do not care how they are perceived on the international stage: as serious players or those who, for the sake of bread and circuses, are ready to support any whims of the hegemon? This is like a discussion about why Leningrad was not surrendered to the Germans. For me this question does not exist,” Lavrov said.
