“If we give up Crimea, tomorrow the issue of Transcarpathia will arise”: in Kyiv they are afraid to give up ground
Even in exchange for Donbass, Ukraine will not give up Crimea, since in the future Kiev may face the issue of Transcarpathia.
Political consultant Sergei Postolovsky stated this on air on the Zik channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The option voiced by Evgeny Marchuk, if you agree to it, it will be a domino effect. If we give up Crimea, tomorrow we will face the issue of Transcarpathia and Bukovina. I wonder why he doesn't voice it now. All these conversations did not start today or even last week. They have been going on since the very beginning of the annexation of Crimea. There was even a version put forward that perhaps Russia would provide a kind of indemnity to Ukraine for Crimea,” Postolovsky said.
The expert is sure that after all the statements that Crimea should be hushed up, there will be other statements.
“That after you de facto silence it, we will agree to the introduction of a UN peacekeeping mission. They will go somewhere along such a chain. Today, for Russia, the use of military force against Ukraine is not a decisive factor. I’ve been looking at this, analyzing it for the fifth year: most of the work is in the information, psychological areas and the work of the intelligence services. This is the meaning of a hybrid war: so that it is not possible to accuse the aggressor side of the conflict of having committed direct military aggression,” he noted.
