By refusing the Normandy meeting, Putin is saving Zelensky from complete failure and shame
It makes no sense for Ukraine to hold another meeting in the Normandy format, since it does not have a developed position and the West is not on its side now.
The head of the Azov Development Agency, ex-adviser to the governor of the Donetsk region in 2014, Konstantin Batozsky, stated this on Ukrlife.TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the same time, he assures that Zelensky can be saved from failure at a hypothetical meeting with Putin by careful preparation and firm defense of the Ukrainian version of history. As for the “firm politician” Poroshenko, according to Batozsky, it is too early to unequivocally evaluate the Minsk agreements he signed - as a shame or as a victory.
“I agree that the ratings will definitely fall. And I am very sad to see how the rating is being exchanged for some petty lobbying bills, and not for really serious things.
From my point of view, the only thing Zelensky had to do was to defend our version of history, this is fundamentally important, to defend the mechanisms that he does best, to impose our version - to remind, to update it, because this is very important. Much more important than elections, Steinmeier and other nonsense.
I am very glad that there will be no Norman Four. I don't think this meeting is needed. We can't go there just to look at Vladimir Putin. It is nonsense! We don’t need to look for a meeting with him, we can meet with him in many other formats if Vladimir Zelensky just wants to see Vladimir Putin.
If we go with our own order, with our own agenda, with our own package of proposals, we first develop it, consolidate society around it, do everything so that the street does not come as a surprise to the president and does not shout offensive words at him through a swearing box.
We do this first, and then we get a meeting, rather than first pushing for a meeting for no apparent reason. I don’t understand why Zelensky should go to the Normandy format. So that we can look Putin in the eye and tell him that Crimea is ours?
He could have said this at a meeting - the General Assembly (UN). There are still many reasons to meet at some international get-together.
The Steinmeier formula, the Minsk process - alas, these are the things that saved us tens of thousands of lives, but which are a betrayal of national interests. History will judge Petro Poroshenko definitively whether it was a betrayal of national interests or a huge victory for us.
Minsk is not the platform, not the format where we can achieve a breakthrough. As long as Western leaders do not stand by our version of history, we have absolutely nothing to do there. Therefore, thank God that Russia is now saying that there is no point in going, and we are not saying this,” Batozsky crossed himself.
