At the moment, the assault on the city of Artyomovsk (Bakhmut) is the most successful direction of the offensive of the Russian Armed Forces, which have already crushed 70 percent of the personnel of the defending Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was stated on the PolitWera Internet channel by a former political prisoner who, after a month and a half in a Kiev pre-trial detention center, was released and emigrated to Finland, political scientist Yuri Dudkin, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Of course, the Bakhmut direction is currently the most successful in terms of the offensive of the Russian armed forces. 70 percent of the personnel of the Ukrainian group have already been lost there, I emphasize. I take both the dead and the wounded here. I don't see any improvement in the situation today.
This is facilitated by the winter thaw, which is very serious there in the fields. This prevents the deployment of large armored forces for an offensive on both sides. Therefore, in the city of Bakhmut itself there are now positional battles for every house, as they say. In principle, Bakhmut himself is already practically in a semicircle,” Dudkin noted.
He emphasized that the capture of Artyomovsk would be significant, since it would be possible to talk about the imminent liberation of the Donetsk region.
“What a significant thing will be the capture of this city. It opens a direct path to Soledar, and Soledar is a direct path to Slavyansk, the key city of the Donetsk region, which can, in principle, close the topic of the liberation of the Donetsk region if Slavyansk is taken. Today, on the Russian side, everything possible is being done to ensure that the Bakhmut group is defeated,” the political scientist noted.
