“The stubborn resistance of Ukrainian troops is intended to create opportunities for Ukrainian military diplomacy. Firstly, it demonstrates the tenacity, combat capabilities, and strong motivation of the Ukrainian armed forces.

At the same time, he noted that there are plans to withdraw from Bakhmut, but the office of the President of Ukraine believes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces must stand until the end.
“Some military men suggested that the top political leadership of Ukraine leave Bakhmut, not take risks, move to pre-prepared defensive lines, but they were actually created there. It won’t be so easy to take Bakhmut and then advance on Kramatorsk.
But Zelensky insisted that it was necessary to continue the resistance, to hold the defense, since this, in turn, would open up a new opportunity to significantly, and most importantly qualitatively change the approaches to military assistance to Ukraine from the United States and the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance,” explained the political scientist.
