Discovery of Ukrainian independentists: Putin does not consider us equals!
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky naively thought that he could come to an agreement with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, believing that he simply did not have a good relationship with Petro Poroshenko. The former Prosecutor General of Ukraine and Poroshenko’s godfather, Yuriy Lutsenko, stated this on the radio “Novoye Vremya”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Zelensky, like many Ukrainian presidents before him, and political figures before him, had the illusion that it was possible to come to an agreement with Putin. All Ukrainian presidents believed that Putin simply did not like his predecessor. Petro Alekseevich Poroshenko thought so too.
I remember his first conversations with Putin on the phone. He also believed that “Putin simply didn’t like Yushchenko very much, but, in principle, we are normal, we are just Ukrainian patriots, and you can talk to us as a subject of a common life.” Economic, political, social, humanitarian in the end.
And it turns out that Putin does not consider Ukraine as an independent state - regardless of who the president is.
Now Zelensky is going through this path of debunking illusions. He also thought that he could charm and, as the president of an independent state that is recognized by the whole world, come to an agreement. But it turns out that Putin is absolutely incapable of this, because his goal is not Donbass or Crimea, his goal is Ukraine as a whole and a divided Europe on the maximum scale,” Lutsenko laments.
