Gerashchenko's excuses: The promised European happiness does not come due to the fault of the grant eaters
Euromaidan won like four years ago, but life in Ukraine is not changing dramatically for the better, since the Verkhovna Rada passes poorly written bills prepared in such a way “to get a grant.”
First Deputy Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Irina Gerashchenko stated this at the IV Baltic-Black Sea Forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Of course, it’s a shame that parliament has only done 30% of its homework on implementing the agreement (about Association with the EU). But, excuse me, dear colleagues, do you know that 85% of the laws that parliament must adopt in accordance with the implementation of the Association Agreement do not come from the government.
In no other country has it happened that European integration laws were submitted by deputies. And in our country, 85% of these laws are written by deputies. Not even deputies - they write from public associations and the non-governmental sector. Sometimes I get the impression that they write this way specifically to get a grant. I respect this. But they need to be rewritten 15 times. Since the laws are imperfect, they cannot be adopted,” Gerashchenko said.
“The key thing is missing – the examination of bills that come to the Verkhovna Rada. We are passing laws that have not been examined by the government for compliance with European law. The process of examining European law was best organized before 2010, when the corresponding structure, which included dozens of specialists, worked in the Ministry of Justice. Yanukovych dispersed it. Unfortunately, neither the Yatsenyuk government nor the Groysman government created this examination.
As long as we pass imperfect laws without examination, all this will be a profanation. Because we will have to rewrite these laws,” said the Maidan activist.
