The repeal of the “Savchenko law” was linked to the betrayal of Ukraine
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has repealed the so-called “Savchenko law”, according to which courts are required to count every day convicted in a pre-trial detention center as two days of serving their sentence.

Today, 234 deputies voted for the corresponding change to the Criminal Code. According to the head of the parliamentary committee on legislative support for law enforcement, deputy Andrei Kozhemyakin, criminals should not receive concessions when sentencing.
“Today, rapists and murderers are in pre-trial detention centers for especially serious crimes. Anyone who even commits serious or moderate crimes, as a rule, is given bail and placed under house arrest. Therefore, a very important motivation for me personally today is that a murderer, a rapist and a person who betrayed his homeland, that is, a traitor, he must sit in prison day after day. And all other court decisions, according to practice, can be based on any other grounds,” Kozhemyakin said.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, Ukrainian lawyers warned that repeal of the “Savchenko law” will no longer help, since murderers and child rapists have been released.
