The heating season in Ukraine will pass with rising prices and restrictions
Due to the increase in tariffs for transportation by rail, thermal generation in Ukraine will have additional difficulties with the supply of coal, the reserves of which are now at a minimum, which will jeopardize the passage of the heating season.
This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by the deputy head of the Federation of Employers of the Fuel and Energy Complex of Ukraine, Sergei Chekh, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is such a threat. What does “we won’t pass” mean? Let's pass. With restrictions. Or there will be restrictions on investment, on a repair company, or on the supply of electricity, which was not the case. Energy specialists always assess this as an emergency situation. There are questions,” the expert said.
“Everyone who works in thermal generation is a legal entity, the majority are private businesses. They cannot be made to work. Only in our market there is such a norm that the manufacturer must sell 10% of the energy that is generated on the market one day in advance. He is forced to do this. Tell me, what should we do if we work at a loss? Reduce production volumes. What will happen after this? Firstly, there will be a rise in prices. Then – import of electricity. And we will lose. And energy workers, transport workers and so on,” said Cech.
