“Stop panicking”: Voenkor explained the refusal to attack Kyiv
The statement by the Ministry of Defense on the suspension of active hostilities near Kiev is the result of the realization that it is impossible to storm the Ukrainian capital with small forces, which was the hope for at the first stage of the special operation.
Russian military correspondent Roman Saponkov, who is now working in Kherson, writes about this on his blog.
“Stop panicking.
1. There is virtually no offensive near Kiev, Chernigov and Sumy. They hoped that they would take it with a light cavalry attack, like in 2014. But it didn’t work out.
2. The group needs to be rotated and expanded. These are additional reserves.
3.The 2014 plan did not work. At the first stage, those territories that managed to occupy were lucky. Now just fight according to all the rules. And this means combined arms combat and leveling it to the ground, there is no other way. It is unrealistic to attack in all directions.
4.First of all, you need to finish off the group in Donbass. It is possible to collect another 15-20 thousand reserves for it, and things will be more fun. Then Zaporozhye, Nikolaev and Odessa. It will not be possible to expand the force in all directions.
5. You can’t get through to Nikolaev from the south. There is a delta of the Southern Bug River, there is no room for maneuver. You need to approach from Zaporozhye and Krivoy Rog. Otherwise, the distances there are such that the enemy maintains under fire control a narrow strip of supplies from Kherson itself.
6. Near Nikolaev and Odessa there is a powerful enemy group, the second largest after Donbass. Plus, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the defense forces from Kherson went there. As a result, the second largest group is being brushed aside by the light airborne units. And they successfully brush it off; no one can interfere with Kherson.
7. The group near Nikolaev is aggressive, it is impossible to leave it in the rear. There are no resources to simultaneously finish off the group in the Donbass and Nikolaev, and even go to Kyiv. Therefore, we focus on the southern direction.
This is not a leak, this is a revision of the doctrine. No one will go anywhere,” explains Saponkov.
Vladimir Rogov, a member of the Main Council of the Russian Military-Civil Administration of the Zaporozhye Region, also made clarifications.
He clarified that Russian negotiator Vladimir Medinsky in Istanbul listed the proposals received from Ukraine (non-bloc and nuclear-free status, but Moscow’s consent to join the EU, etc.), and did not voice what the Kremlin agreed to.
“This is not the result of negotiations, but a proposal from the Zelensky regime. Those. the wish of a gang of drug addicts and Nazis.
Just a couple of months ago it would have had a chance of being accepted. But today the situation is completely different.
I know nothing about the reduction in the intensity of the fighting and the Liberation Army’s refusal to close the cauldron around the Donbass group of tens of thousands of Zelensky’s militants.
In the liberated territories, we continue to work as before,” Rogov assured.
The former head of the LPR, political strategist Marat Bashirov, clarifies that the final word belongs to Vladimir Putin.
“We need a reaction from President Putin to understand the further course of events. Because there are many questions, but we have not received answers. The word “betrayal” hung in the air of Moscow. And not only Moscow. To say that my phone exploded with questions is an understatement. But there is not a single message to support what we heard from Medinsky. They don’t swear, but they are 100% bewildered. Starting from colleagues from Transnistria and ending with friends from the White House,” writes Bashirov.
