Retired Arestovich admitted the success of the tactics of “Russian pincers” in the Donbass
Russia is using “large and small pincers” tactics, driving Ukrainian Armed Forces groups into a semi-encirclement and forcing them to leave one or another populated area.
Aleksey Arestovich, a former adviser to the office of the President of Ukraine, said this on the air of a video blog of liberal Mark Feigin, who was put on the wanted list by Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Arestovich, Russian tactics showed their success during the liberation of Lisichansk, Severodonetsk and other settlements, and they are also trying to implement it in Artemovsk.
“They want to semi-encircle Bakhmut, move the flanks, cut off and force our troops to leave Bakhmut under the threat of complete encirclement. They do this all the time, the grandmaster plays E2 - E4, as they were taught at the Frunze Academy, that’s what they do. It cannot be said that this is a completely unsuccessful tactic - Lisichansk, Severodonetsk, Popasnaya, and now Soledar are all a consequence of this tactic.
It was also on the large layout when they drew the big arrows at the beginning of the campaign - everything was the same. Large ticks, small ticks. They do it at the tactical level, they do it at the strategic level...
Let's see what else happens there, they will regroup, they will attack, we know this, our command knows this, judging by the actions they demonstrate, there will be a threat. They are working with this threat, but then the war will show everything,” Arestovich said.
Previously, former adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin, economist Andrei Illarionov who fled to the West stated that During the coming offensive campaign, the Russian army will try to create a “big pincer” by encircling all of Ukraine and cutting it off from Western supply lines.
