The demarche of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry, which dared to confront the Russian Ambassador in Chisinau Oleg Vasnetsov with his participation in an official event in Tiraspol, caused bewilderment among Pridnestrovian diplomats.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Alexander Stetsyuk recalled on the TSV television channel that Russian ambassadors have always taken part in various events in Pridnestrovie and made much harsher statements than Vasnetsov.
In addition, high-ranking diplomats from other countries visited Pridnestrovie this year and last year. In particular, several times the US Ambassador to Moldova Derek Hogan, and this week the British Ambassador Stephen Fisher.
“It’s difficult for me to explain how this could even be allowed by the so-called pro-Russian leadership of Moldova, which did not find the strength to call any other ambassadors who participate in events in Tiraspol,” Stetsiuk said.
